I'm not a fan of the way things were solved. Only thing I kinda dislike is the last episode. I like that a lot, but won't try to convince you if you don't. What about the gameplay? Standar Telltale stuff based on dialogue choices. The main songs of each chapter are PERFECT. Gimme a text adventure! I'll take it!Īnd the music. I want a Borderlands racing games, or a combat cars game, a walking sim, a dating sim, and open world adventure. They made me want to explore more of Pandora without relying on old mechanics. I fell in love with Rhys, Fiona, LoaderBot, Gortys and Sasha (I would have fallen in love with Vaughn too, but his voice actor is not a good person). There's even a hilarious scene with 'finger guns' that mocks the reliance on bullets of those games. I never thought we could tell a story in this world without guns to interact with it, but I was wrong and happy for it. Characters with actual personalities, goals, fears and evolution. Tales from the Borderlands gave me what I wanted. I mean, I love the old shootin' n' lootin', but I want a little more.
In the main games of the franchise, I miss how the main characters don't have a real arc and how the backstory is relegated to audio logs. Regardless, whoever picked the songs for the game deserves a raise. What I like the most about the world of Borderlands is the colorful world and coloful characters. Haven't gotten around to My Silver Lining or Retrograde yet. I've made a playlist with the songs on Apple Music, and judging from how much I've listened to each, I seem to like Busy Earnin' the best, followed by Ain't No Rest for the Wicked (intro from BL1), then To the Top, Kiss the Sky and finally Pieces of the People We Love (again, I find it a bit generic). I liked it, and it gave me the feels, but it wasn't connected to something visually on the screen so it doesn't seem fair to compare it to the others. Also, I think the audio mixing was a bit off. I just felt Kiss the Sky gave off the same vibe but better. 5 (Retrograde) - I can see why people would call it brilliant, and it's juxtaposition like the Kiss the Sky-intro. 3 (Pieces of the People We Love) - it seemed a little generic to me, but still a great upbeat and road-trip'y music montage! Toned-down and tuned everything down for a surprising juxtaposition between the chaos and the music 2 (Kiss the Sky) - went great with the slow-motion. It perfectly channels the feeling of the game 1 (Busy Earnin') - feel-good, totally set the mood for a wacky ride.
At least, it managed to get me goosebumps 4 (Back to the Top) - went for the 'epic' feel, and IMO it managed it. Please try to avoid reposting content that is already present on this sub-reddit.Īll discussions about possible ideas for Telltale games belong in this thread any others will be removed.
